Wembley Park is launching an open call for artists to create a winter installation for its three K6 phone boxes in Arena Square. We invite proposals that explore the theme of dialogue and connection, symbolised by these phone boxes. The installation should reflect the importance of human interaction in a digitally driven world. Artists are encouraged to use light-based designs that captivate and engage visitors. Proposals should be playful, impactful, and invite reflection. Deadline for submissions is Wed, 17th October 2024, with a budget of £5,000 inclusive of materials and installation.

Eligibility: This open call is specifically targeting artists with expertise in light-based installations. While we welcome submissions from both emerging and established artists, experience in creating dynamic, illuminated works is essential. Artists should be comfortable working with light elements such as LEDs or fibre optics, with the technical knowledge required to integrate these into the iconic K6 phone boxes. No specific nationality or residence requirements apply, but we are particularly seeking artists who can create visually engaging, impactful installations that align with the theme of dialogue and connection. Public art experience is strongly preferred.

What you get: The selected artist will receive an all-inclusive payment of £5,000 to cover materials, installation, and artist fees. Additionally, they will join the prestigious Wembley Park Art Trail, which features works by renowned artists such as Mr. Doodle, Lois O’Hara, Jason Bruges, and Claire Luxton. This is a unique opportunity to have your work showcased alongside these established names, with significant exposure through PR and promotional activities. The installation will be a key feature of Wembley Park’s winter programme, drawing a wide audience of art lovers, local visitors, and international tourists. The artist will also benefit from extensive media coverage, social media promotion, and inclusion in our marketing efforts, offering a prime platform to expand their professional profile.
