A chance to shoot in Spain in the Trafalgar area in late 2024. Free to enter! I’m a Spanish Portrait Painter working in the UK. I’m always ‘Back to Trafalgar’—my life in London focuses around the National Gallery and, in Spain, my summer home is in Barbate, the tiny fishing village that saw, offshore, the Battle of Trafalgar. Inspired by the tales that had been handed down from one generation of fishermen to the next, especially by my late friend Mora, I have decided to mark the Battle’s anniversary with a Battle of the Lenses. Barbate Town Hall sponsors this project. Come and shoot us.

The deadline for submission and to honour the anniversary of the battle is 21st October 2024.

Eligibility: Photographers living in the UK.

What you get: The residency in November 2024 includes accommodation in Barbate (Cádiz) for 7-10 days and a grant of 1,000 Euros. The winner will be able to train their lens on stunning coastal features, verdant woods, and forests or capture life in this vibrant town. The results will be the focus of an exhibition supported by the local council in Spring 2025. Two original photographs will be kept by the Town Hall, who will also retain the copyright of three other photos chosen by the Jury. The winner will be notified by 30th October.
