The BARON PRIZE is a biannual award that recognises artists, photographers, and filmmakers who have created projects investigating gender, sex, sexuality, and identity.

BARON was launched in 2011 as an independent art and photography book publisher exploring sex, sexuality, gender and identity. Today, BARON is stocked worldwide in 20 different countries, and many of BARONS’ books are in collections, including the book collections at MoMA NYC and The LUMA Foundation. 
 
BARON Contributors have included: Petra Collins, Donatella Versace, Christina Quarles, Gosha Rubchinskiy, Harley Weir, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Tyrone Lebon, Hermann Nitsch, Joyce Lee, Damien Hirst, Lotta Volkova, Bjarne Melgaard, Lars Von Trier, Relm, Namio Harukawa, Bruce LaBruce, Sutapa Biswas, Sadao Hasegawa, Julie Verhoeven, Toshio Saeki, Urs Lüthi, Alice Hawkins, Gray Wielebinski, Richard Kern, Ethan James Green, Vittorio Scarpati and many more.
 
The sixth edition of the BARON PRIZE is open to artists, filmmakers, and photographers working in any medium and from anywhere in the world. People over the age of 18 are invited to apply for the 2024 edition of the BARON PRIZE. The winner will be announced in November 2024, and the prize is a £2000 cash prize plus a £1000 Baron gift box containing Baron Books and merch.

The BARON PRIZE has been judged by a transnational panel including Ashleigh Kane (Dazed & Confused), Chiara Bardelli Nonino (Italian Vogue); Petra Collins (Curator & Photographer) Sue Webster (Artist), Bruce LaBruce (Artist & Director) Nadia Lee Cohen (Photographer), Julie Verhoeven (Artist), Sunil Gupta (Photographer), PZ Today (Creative Director), Yushi Li (Artist), Richard Kern (Photographer), Ted Stansfield (Editor), Ethan James Green (Photographer), Alice Hawkins (Photographer), Joyce Lee (Artist) and Relm (Artist).
