Turner Prize nominated artist and Royal Academician Tracey Emin is searching for a Great British artistic talent, to collaborate on an exclusive project with British Airways, official airline of the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.
With support from Tracey, the successful candidate will produce iconic artwork for the livery on 12 British Airways aircraft, flying millions of guests and teams in for the 2012 Games.
BA Great Britons art mentor, Tracey Emin, said: “I’m very excited to be an Art Ambassador for British Airways. It’s a brilliant opportunity to fly the flag and show the rest of the world how truly amazing British art can be.”
The winning candidate will receive one-on-one mentoring with Tracey throughout the campaign, as well as financial support from the airline.
Entries close July 27, 2011.
Other career-defining opportunities launched include collaborating with Michelin-star restaurant owner and chef Heston Blumenthal to produce an exclusive menu; and working with esteemed actor, writer and director Richard E Grant on a film script. Both productions will be used on British Airways flights in the run up to the London 2012 Games.
The BA Great Britons programme is open to Britons aged 16 or over who have an interest in art, as well as experience in the industry. A panel of judges, including Tracey Emin and the Royal Academy of Arts will select a shortlist of finalists to present their ideas to them. They will be judged on criteria including creativity, passion, experience and raw talent.
Luisa Fernandez, British Airways’ global sponsorship manager, said: “We’re proud to bring the most celebrated British talent together with some of the best up and coming British talent in the run up to the London 2012 Games.”
