Farnham Maltings is seeking a passionate, dedicated Youth Theatre Practitioners to lead our Senior Group (ages 11-14) and our Advanced group (age 14-18) on Wednesday evenings. Sessions are from 5-6.45pm and then 7-9pm respectively at Farnham Maltings. Renumeration: £30 p/h

Job Description

Farnham Maltings is seeking a passionate, dedicated Youth Theatre Practitioners to lead our Senior Group (ages 11-14) and our Advanced group (age 14-18) on Wednesday evenings. Sessions are from 5-6.45pm and then 7-9pm respectively at Farnham Maltings.

The ideal candidate would have professional theatre and/or performance experience alongside knowledge of working with this age group and share a love of developing communication skills and resilience with young people. Many of our youth theatre members are expanding their knowledge of drama and getting curious about developing their technique. Each term ends with an informal sharing of work in progress with an invited audience of friends and family, along with a more formal performance each summer.

Renumeration: £30 p/h

Job Requirements

To deliver and lead weekly youth theatre sessions.

Essential

  • Proven experience (min. 2 years) in directing or facilitating theatre experiences for a range of ages
  • Experience of directing and managing youth theatre productions
  • Experience devising/planning youth theatre workshops
  • Skills in a wide range of theatrical styles and/or disciplines
  • Current DBS certificate or willingness to get one
  • Understanding/experience of best safeguarding practice

Desirable

  • Experience working with young people with additional needs
  • Current Safeguarding certificate
  • Current First Aid certificate
  • Directing experience
  • Experience of working in a production team

Job Responsibilities

Objectives and Responsibilities

  • To shape and plan an exciting youth theatre offer for children and young people in Farnham and the surrounding area.
  • To design and deliver engaging weekly sessions for Farnham Maltings Youth Theatre.
  • To provide support and monitor all Farnham Maltings Youth Theatre sessions.
  • To promote Farnham Maltings Youth Theatre and nurture its ethos of support, company, and amplifying youth voice.
  • To work with the Farnham Maltings team to ensure a safe experience for all stakeholders engaging with the Youth Theatre.
