As Music and Technology Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the musical and technical operations of the https://noyo.org.uk/ – National Open Youth Orchestra (NOYO), contributing to its success and impact for young disabled musicians.
Your responsibilities will include managing equipment and supporting the creation of music resources and arrangements. As well as providing musical and technical guidance to musicians and their families, teachers and Music Leaders, you will support the development of our accessible musical instrument, the https://theclarion.uk/ – Clarion. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled and organised individual with a passion for music and technology, who is eager to drive innovation and accessibility within an inclusive music programme.

Contract: Fixed term, until end of December 2025
Salary: £27,500 pro rata (£22,000)
Hours: 28 hours per week (standard hours are 7 working hours per day, with 1 hour unpaid lunch break, but hours may be spread across the week)
Job Requirements
Essential
- Significant experience in music, music technology and live music
- Fluent in reading and working with standard musical notation
- Confident in using Sibelius software
- Competent with music technology hardware and software
- Proven ability to deliver technical support for musicians, teachers, and ensembles
- Highly organised, with strong administrative and IT skills
- Ability to support and train others in music technology
- Effective verbal and written communication, and strong interpersonal skills
- Capacity to work independently, meet deadlines and be adaptable
Desirable
- Grade 8 music theory or equivalent
- Experience working with young disabled musicians
- Knowledge of emerging music technologies and accessibility in music education
- Knowledge of alternate musical notation, e.g. guitar tab, percussion notation etc.
Job Responsibilities
Musical and technical support
- Troubleshoot instruments, music, and technology
- Deliver rehearsal webcasts
- Process video applications from prospective musicians
- Support setting up, playing, composing and arranging for specialised instruments
Resources and equipment
- Purchase, hire and transport of instruments and technology
- Musical instrument and equipment loans
- Maintain the NOYO music library
Arrangements
- Research music rights ownership
- Liaise with musical arrangers and resource creators
- Proofread and distribute arrangements
- Create guide tracks
Guidance and documentation
- Develop and distribute guidance documents for musical and technical processes
- Create stage plans
- Technical support and advice for teachers of accessible instruments
Innovation and accessibility
- Support the development and distribution of the Clarion
