Fundraising and Development Manager

Job Summary

The Fundraising and Development Manager role will play a vital role in raising funds across the organisation, working closely with the Director and Chief Operating Officer (COO) to identify future funding opportunities in line with the organisation’s strategic objectives.

Job Description

The Fundraising and Development Manager is a new and dynamic post playing a vital role in exploring creative and innovative approaches to fundraising across all areas of our work. The post-holder will be responsible for income generation through fundraising activities and strategic development of relationships to meet esea contemporary’s financial ambitions. Building and fostering key relationships with businesses, corporate and private donors, patrons, trusts and foundations, as well as public grant-making bodies is a key aspect of the role. You will work closely with the Director and Chief Operating Officer (COO) to achieve esea contemporary’s financial targets and secure sustainable funding and income sources that support the organisation’s mission.

Job Requirements

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Proven experience in fundraising, including securing funds from public sector sources (e.g. Arts Council England) and various trusts and foundations.
  • In-depth knowledge of the arts funding landscape.
  • Experience working within an arts or cultural organisation.
  • Demonstrated success in achieving income targets.
  • Confident and effective communicator with strong networking skills, both in person and in written correspondence.
  • Excellent presentation skills and meticulous attention to detail across all areas of work.
  • Proactive, organised approach with the ability to manage competing priorities, maintain records, and complete administrative tasks within tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with evaluation methods and experience reporting to funding bodies.
  • Be a skilled communicator and a dependable team player.
  • Demonstrate confidence working independently and collaboratively within a small, dedicated team.

Job Responsibilities

Key areas of responsibilities are to:

  • Collaborate with the Director and COO to implement a targeted, strategic programme of trust and grant applications that supports esea contemporary’s fundraising strategy.
  • Develop, write, and deliver high-quality, tailored funding proposals aligned with esea contemporary’s strategic aims and vision.
  • Research and identify prospective funders in the UK and internationally, while developing and managing trust and foundation relationships to secure ongoing support.
  • Prepare and manage reports on secured income, pending applications, and potential future funding sources.
  • Evaluate new income-generating opportunities with the COO and Finance Manager
  • Collaborate with colleagues to identify and develop projects suitable for trust, foundation, and grant funding.
  • Support esea contemporary’s communications about fundraising on the website, bulletin, and social media channels.
