Guests at Adelaide’s exclusive Intercontinental Hotel can take advantage of a special offer between the hotel and an exhibition featuring the artwork of J. M. W. Turner. The recently announced deal is a collaboration between the two parties, granting Intercontinental guests complementary entry to the exhibition, Turner from the Tate: the Making of a Master at the Art Gallery of South Australia on Adelaide’s North Terrace.
The exhibition will run from 8 February to 19 May, 2013, featuring over 100 of Turner’s oil and water-colour paintings. The first major Australian exhibition of Turner’s work in 20 years, it is a monumental event in Australia’s art calendar.
James Allen, the Intercontinental Hotel’s general manager, says ‘J. M. W. Turner is known as one of the greatest landscape painters of all time and we are very excited to be able to welcome guests to Intercontinental Adelaide for what will no doubt be an extremely popular exhibition.’
A key figure in the British Romantic Movement, Turner was renowned for his depiction of light. Turner from the Tate: the Making of a Master features paintings from Turner’s extensive travels around the European continent, travels that took him to Italy and France (where he studied at the Louvre).
The Turner Art Package includes overnight accommodation, late check-out at 2pm the following day and a buffet breakfast for two. Packages start at $265 per room and will be available for the duration of the exhibition. VIP guided tours can also be arranged for patrons of the Intercontinental Hotel.
